Taking on the colder months and sites of Iceland is not a typical vacation for women in our 40s, 50s or 60s, but a trip to Island while it’s changing from winter into spring is unforgettable. A chance to hike on the glaciers, to see the Northern Lights and to experience the waterfalls dance between flowing water, beautiful ice, and falling snow were some of reasons I HAD to go back to Iceland in March. You cannot see an ice cave nor the Lights and are limited to what you can do with the glaciers outside of the colder months. I am sure the summer hiking and camping is wonderful too, but it brings with it a ton of tourists and many more people, crowding the very sites I prize when experiencing it almost to myself.
There truly is nothing like hiking up a sea of white, blue, gray and black and looking around to see only a select few others along the landscape. I’ll be sharing pictures and stories from our trip and recommendations here and on the Iceland Trip & Stories for when you are ready to go!
I’ll also be sharing my favorite gear, so you are better prepared for your next winter or cold weather adventure. I only share and recommend what I’ve tested and really like using and if you purchase any of it using one of my links, I’ll receive a small commission.
